dont fuck it up this time ferrari...pretty sure you have to make this one count if you want to have any hopes for this season....

kmag starting from the pits... so i guess that could work for him if theres lap 1 chaos

verstappen and bottas have some work to do.... and this track is not very forgiving... so im expecting to be entertained

kimi doesnt appear to be in the mood for it this weekend... but i guess we’ll see where he ends up

and lastly good job to riciardo.... he seems to think he can keep the redbulls behind him...i have my doubts... but good job putting yourself in that position

My prediction:

1st turn, Vettel remembers he’s Vettel and crashes into Hamilton, Leclrerc inherits the lead.

1st pitstop, Ferrari gambles on strategy and puts Leclrerc on no tires. Right after they drop the car off the jack they will realize no tires isn’t the best strategy.

Seriously though, this should be an interesting race with the grid shuffled up.

Apparently Lewis’ car sprung a leak somewhere and needed last-minute repairs, hopefully there’s no trouble during the race since I’d like to see a proper fight between him and Vettel.

A Ferrari win would be tremendous here, if only to boost morale for the team and its fans.

Hopefully when Max eventually catches up to Danny they’ll be on even terms so that we can see a good fight there, too.

This could be great, I really hope the race delivers...

It is going to be a VERY interesting start.  Curious as to how Max does.  He needs to keep a cool head.  I also doubt Merc will win this but hey, this is why we race the races.

No kidding.  I definitely want more info.  Been watching F1 since the 70s and cant recall that happening.  Melting the tire, or the bead, yes.  But never the suspension.

Its a great way to kill the racing in general. Apparently now making a mistake in front of another driver is now a non appealable 5 second penalty. The unsafe entry rules are for people 100% in control of their cars making stupid decisions, apparently the stewards now expect you to crash your car to keep it off the racing line.

I almost agree with the stewards if VET had slowed down more he could have regained control before re-entering the track and would have lost the position. By coming back on track and blocking HAM he kept is position. I think they should have told him to give up the  position and let them race it out.

Hot take - penalty was fair. Seb turned the car to the right to take up more of the line than he needed. He had control of the car before then. Ha m was gonna pass if he didn’t block him. The back end was not coming around at that point, which is why the turning to the right caused vettel to block him at all.

Also, hats off to Stroll for coming home 9th and pulling off some proper top-shelf moves in the closing stages of the race.

Completely bonkers decision by the stewards, and the post race interviews shows what a complete arse Hamilton is as well. Calling for a penalty during the race and then being all “it’s not how I want to win and it’s not my decision” after the race. And then being all PR friendly and trying to pull Vettel onto the #1 podium (basically admitting he should be first). That guy is nothing but PR fluff and Instagram image outside of his racing skills apparently.

I’d rather see a real reaction like Vettel had after the race. He was a boss today, switching the #2 board to in front of the Mercedes in parc fermé, lol.

Nope. He was damn lucky just to keep it more or less straight. On the grass he was a passenger. Once he hit pavement it was a testament to his skill as a driver to keep it away from both the wall and HAM. Bogus call. Yes he made an error but did recover it. Bogus call from the stewards.

again....IMHO.  We are all armchair drivers here compared to these guys obviously.

I am not saying it was t he right call.

I think the stewards have access to the car data that we as fans will never have, if was he attempting to slow down and regain control he shouldn’t have gotten a penalty, if he just floored it and hoped  for the best he should have gotten a penalty. If I was a stewards that's what I would have bases it on.

Well, isnt that what he was doing? Sure looked to me like he fought that car for control for quite some time.  If he had matted it he would have looped it.  Ditto if he stomped the brakes.  He slowed it down and fought for control the entire time.

He made a minor right input to correct the car sliding again after bumping over the curb back on to the track. I strongly doubt that was an intentional block.

It looked less like a corrective turn and much more like he wanted to regain the racing line even though Ham was about to send it through for the lead. Also, the initial incident was Seb sliding off the track of his own accord. Had another racer given him a bump or shove into that position, I’d be more considerate. As it stands.......While harsh, and perhaps could’ve been better handled as a starting grid demotion at the next race, h e deserved the penalty.

Speaking from experience brakes do nothing when you are on the grass on slick tires. Vettel could do nothing until he got back on the pavement at which point he just had to hope he could keep it off the wall.
